Yes and no. Foliar feeding effectiveness is real for a confirmed gap. But it rarely changes your final harvest. A pale leaf can green up within a day of a spray. Yet the plant still brings in the same crop it would have grown without it. That gap between how a leaf looks and what it yields is the whole story here.

Those results may sound harsh, but they line up with the mechanism. A spray cannot deliver the bulk nutrients a plant burns through to build leaves, stalks, and grain. Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium come in large amounts that a leaf simply cannot soak up. So a foliar dose tops off a small gap. It does not feed the engine.

That does not make the practice useless. It makes it a targeted tool. Foliar feeding effectiveness climbs when a plant has a real micronutrient gap that roots cannot close fast enough. This often happens in cold or wet soil that locks up iron, zinc, or manganese. In that case, a foliar dose buys the plant time while you fix the deeper cause down in the dirt.
