My windowsill pothos came up with crispy brown leaf edges three days after I used a too-strong dose of plant food. I noticed it the next morning, since I had eyeballed the cap on my own instead of measuring. A heavy pour is the easiest mistake to make with liquid feed. A big jug looks cheap on the shelf, but the price per real meal your plant gets is the number that matters.

Keep your jugs above freezing through winter so they never settle out, and shake well before each pour. For the cost and the constant reapplying, pair liquid with a granular feed. The granules release slow over weeks for a steady base, and you reach for the liquid only when a plant needs a quick boost. With that simple mix you cut out most of the liquid fertilizer disadvantages and you keep the speed without the weekly chore.
